KLM to accept frequent flyer miles as payment for inflight purchases

NETHERLANDS. KLM Royal Dutch Airlines’ Flying Blue members can use Award Miles to purchase tax free goods onboard, starting from 30 September.

Flying Blue members could already use their Award Miles to buy tax free goods in the airline’s web shop, as well as redeem frequent flyer points to pay for flights, extra baggage and legroom, hotel rooms or car hire. This move extends the scheme to onboard shopping.

The Flying Blue programme was also expanded last year to allow Transavia passengers to earn and spend Miles.

Flying Blue members can collect Award Miles by booking flights with KLM, Air France or other airline partners.
