USA. Jersey Mike’s Subs has raised US$2.5 million to support the US hunger relief organisation Feeding America.
As reported, Jersey Mike’s teamed up with Feeding America in a nationwide fundraiser on 21 and 22 November.
With families looking forward to Thanksgiving Day celebrations tomorrow (26 November) – and US food banks continuing to address an increased need for food assistance as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic – Jersey Mike’s pledged to donate 20% of sales, or at least US$1 million, to support Feeding America’s efforts.
Jersey Mike’s Subs Founder and CEO Peter Cancro said the much needed US$2.5 million raised will help provide over 25 million meals to those in need. He thanked all the company’s supporters, adding that “raising up together we always make a difference in people’s lives”.
The Moodie Davitt Report is delighted to share his comments, and wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving, in the video below.
Feeding America is the largest hunger-relief organisation in the US. Its network of 200 food banks and 60,000 food pantries and meal programmes provides meals to over 40 million people each year. According to the organisation, one in six people in the US may face food insecurity this year as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. US$1 helps to provide at least ten meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks. |
