It’s Extraordinary: Desigual unveils its Fall/Winter 2017 collection

Desigual has unveiled its Fall/Winter 2017 collection, which is designed for women who “set their own rules with style and lots of attitude”.

The ‘Extraordinary’ collection, presented during the New York Fashion Week, is said to continue the brand’s path of creative evolution.

Desigual said the designs were inspired by women who were protagonists of subcultures in the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s. Scenes from Californian punk and Spanish new wave have been modernised with the “lighthearted and creative codes that characterise the brand”.

The brand’s fashion trends include tartan, flowers, knits, sporty inspiration and animal print. The range includes long lengths in coats, outerwear and dresses and shorter styles in mini skirts and small dresses. Star pieces include down, perfecto jackets, bomber, tartan pants, enveloping cardigans and knit sweaters.

Desigual’s colour palette focuses on red but also includes blue and green stripes, checkered blue and maroon wool, khakis and browns and grey as a contrast to black in hounds tooth motifs and geometric graphics.

The characteristic Desigual print is combined with tartan, punk images, flowers and embroidered details in vintage spirit pieces which resonate with the Californian hippie culture of the sixties and seventies.

Materials such as wool, knits, sheer chiffon, denim and ultra-unwashed grey and khaki are featured, according to Desigual, to complement a collection in which the accessories accentuate the individual spirit of the outfit.

Other collection highlights include handmade chokers, bags with patch details and tacks, ankle boots and masculine style shoes.
