ISPY “spreads its wings” to include airport and ferry sales staff

ispy_logo_300x300UK/INTERNATIONAL. Inflight sales event ISPY will now also incorporate sales staff at airports and ferries as part of a wholesale format change.

To reflect this, ISPY will now stand for ‘International Sales People of the Year’ (previously Inflight Sales Person of the Year).

The new format will feature workshops, ‘TED Talk-style’ presentations, and elevator pitch presentations in technology, skills and innovation corners, together with a tradeshow.

The first edition of the three-day event will take place in December 2017, with the first day set aside for buyers, concessionaires and suppliers.

“Previous ISPY events have had a huge impact on the inflight retail channel and we now want to spread our wings and bring our experience and ‘feel good factor’ to other duty free and travel retail channels,” said TRT & ISPY Managing Director Christine Martin.

Airlines, airports and ferries will be invited to attend as a delegation, including crew/sales staff, learning & development/training and performance managers and buyers.

Crew sales staff will no longer compete for the title of Inflight Sales Person of the Year. Instead they will take an online knowledge test and submit skills observations (carried out by their line managers) prior to the event. They will then receive certification as either ‘Stars of the Future’, ‘Professional’ or ‘Expert’ levels. These certificates will then be presented at an ISPY Graduation Ceremony.

Airlines, airports and ferries will be able to compete for the ‘Crew/Sales Staff Engagement Programme of the Year’ award. There will also be awards for ‘Star Product at Show’ and ‘Supplier of the Year’.
