ISG Hong Kong names Vimal Rai as Executive Director

Vimal Rai: Key new role at ISG

HONG KONG. Leading inflight concessionaire ISG Hong Kong has named Vimal Rai to the newly created position of Executive Director. He will report to Managing Director Tony Detter and oversee all functions within the organization.

Detter said: “Vimal has joined our company from his previous position of General Manager of Business Excellence with Jet Airways, India’s largest carrier. Prior to this position, Vimal was also heading Jet’s Inflight Services division with overall responsibility for catering, product innovation, inflight entertainment and duty free sales.

“While at Jet, he oversaw the renovation of many business processes within that rapidly expanding airline as well as playing a key role in its overall strategic planning, including that of its low-cost operations launched in 2008.”

Before joining Jet Airways, Rai worked in several key positions with Singapore Airlines, including opening and managing some of the airline’s operations in India as well as managing its first and business class lounges in Singapore.

Rai has recently completed two MBA degrees – from the National University of Singapore Business School and UCLA (Anderson School).

ISG Chairman Jean-Marcel Rouff said: “Vimal has extensive experience in aviation, in both legacy and LCC operations, and this experience coupled with his dual MBA will be a great addition to help us refine our growth strategy in the market, both with existing airlines and the many new players entering the international market over the next one to two years.”
