Introducing a “new Dior universe”: Maison Christian Dior opens at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport

FRANCE. Parfums Christian Dior has opened a Maison Christian Dior boutique in partnership with Société de Distribution Aéroportuaire (SDA), the joint venture between Lagardère Travel Retail and Groupe ADP, at Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport.

The new outlet is located in Terminal 2AC’s ‘Parfums d’Alcôve’.

According to Dior, the boutique has been designed to host a “new Dior universe”, one dedicated to the love of perfume and to the art of gifting.

It offers, Dior said, “an exceptional invitation” to travellers to discover a large collection of fragrances, candles and soaps. The products are the work of Dior Perfumer-Creator François Demachy, and have been crafted to celebrate a “resolutely contemporary French art de vivre (art of living)”.

The Maison Christian Dior concept is featured in selected airports worldwide. As reported, the first pop-up boutique in an Asia Pacific airport opened at Singapore Changi last year.

The Charles de Gaulle space presents 22 fragrances, a combination of Dior classics and newcomers. Ambre Nuit and Happy Hour feature alongside Thé Cachemire, Sakura and Jasmin des Anges. Demachy’s latest creation, Holy Peony, is also highlighted.

“Maison Christian Dior was created so that we can share our love of fragrances and celebrate the hedonistic epicurean lifestyle that was so important to Christian Dior,” the company said.

The fragrances, along with candles and soaps, are presented in gift boxes finished with a coloured cord and a Maison Christian Dior wax seal.

Parfums Christian Dior General Manager Travel Retail Europe Floriane Pampiglione said: “We are very proud to launch Maison Christian Dior at Paris Charles de Gaulle, in Paris, in France where the House of Dior was born. This was only possible thanks to a great partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail, SDA and Paris Aéroport.”

Pampiglione said the boutique immersed travellers into the Dior Parisian tradition.

“Designed as a Parisian apartment… Maison Christian Dior is an ode to fragrances and flowers that have always been at the heart of our perfume creation and at the heart of our event today.”

Pampiglione said the range of fragrances and lifestyle products has been adapted to suit the Charles de Gaulle passenger profile. New lines will be added twice a year.

SDA General Manager Guy Bodescot emphasised Maison Christian Dior’s location and its self-contained design which underline the brand’s roots and authenticity.

“Since we are in Paris, and in France, not only the home place for Christian Dior, but also the country where subtle perfumes have their own history… finding the right spot was indeed a critical step,” he said.

The boutique is separate from the main Buy Paris Duty Free store but still in a zone that carries strong appeal to shoppers, noted Bodescot. He said nearby fashion shops create a “credible environment for niche perfumes to express their differences” and noted its proximity to gates for Emirates and Rossiya Airlines.

Emiratis and Russians are considered the “best aficionados” of niche perfumes, Bodescot added.

Bodescot said the Dior concept encapsulates the “perfect ingredients” for the success of niche perfumes, adding that it would be deployed in other Charles de Gaulle and Orly terminals.
