In memoriam: Benjie Lim, former Duty Free Philippines General Manager

PHILIPPINES. We report with sadness the passing of Benjie Lim, General Manager of Duty Free Philippines (DFP) from 1992 to 1998.

One of his successors in the role, Lorenzo ‘Enchong’ Formoso, paid tribute to his former boss, saying “Thank you so much for all the support and friendship over the years. I will never forget all the good times and the fun we shared in and outside of DFP. We will pray for your eternal rest and peace.”

Lim was one of just six men to lead Duty Free Philippines over its 32-year history. The others are Jose Ma. ‘Chim’ N. Esteban III (1987 to 1992); Faustino O. Salud (1998 to 2001); Michael Christian U. Kho (2001 to 2011); Lorenzo ‘Enchong’ C. Formoso (2011 to 20016); and Vicente (Vico) Pelagio Angala, who was named Chief Operating Officer in 2016 and leads the state-owned retailer today.

The history of Duty Free Philippines was told by The Moodie Davitt Report in a special publication (pictured below) to market the retailer’s 25th anniversary in 2012.
