Images of the Day: Golden moment as Arab Cup is revealed by Hamad International Airport

Hamad International Airport and Qatar Duty Free yesterday played host to the unveiling of the FIFA Arab Cup Trophy. The magnificent trophy, which features a solid gold base, Arabic calligraphy and a map of the Arab world, was introduced during a special ceremony at the country’s national gateway.

The tournament takes place in Qatar between 30 November and 18 December. Sixteen teams from Africa and the Middle East will play a total of 32 games to decide the winner of the tourament. Qatar will also host the FIFA World Cup from 21 November to 18 December 2022.

Qatar will host the FIFA Arab Cup Trophy Experience between now and the start of the tournament. The trophy will be displayed in various locations across the country, including Aspire Park, Souq Waqif, Katara, the Mall of Qatar, Doha Festival City and Msheireb Downtown Doha, as well as local schools and businesses.

Stadium 974, originally Ras Abu Aboud Stadium was introduced to the world in recent days. Why 974? Because it is built from 974 shipping containers.
The expansion project at Hamad International Airport is set for completion in 2022 in time for the FIFA World Cup. The project add 11,720sq m of commercial space, packed with a diverse variety of shopping and food & beverage offers.
