Images of the Day: Another Hamad International Airport landmark takes shape

Our regular feature celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

QATAR. Today’s selection of images (my own) capture the vibrancy and the panoramic wonder of one of the world’s greatest airports, Hamad International in Doha, writes Martin Moodie.

They also portray the build-up to the opening later this year in association with Qatar Duty Free, of Louis Vuitton’s latest airport boutique. Insiders say it will rank alongside, perhaps above, any of the great French luxury brand’s airport stores to date.

The boutique sits adjacent to Swiss artist Urs Fischer’s magnificent bronze Lamp Bear sculpture, a now iconic feature of Hamad International and believed to be one of the most Instagramed sights in the airport world.

As always, the Louis Vuitton hoardings which hide the workings within are superbly stylish. “Just wait for the real thing,” promises Qatar Duty Free Vice President of Operations Thabet Musleh.
