Image of the Day: Sydney Airport welcomes Kiwi flights back

Our regular feature celebrates important and/or memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns from the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

From Lucinda Milton, Business Director ANZ at JCDecaux Airport, comes this hugely welcome image from Sydney Airport as the New South Wales airport welcomed its first flights from New Zealand in seven months on Friday.

Under the terms of a newly created trans-Tasman travel bubble, passengers from New Zealand can fly into New South Wales or the Northern Territory.

“A great step forward at Sydney Airport today,” Lucinda writes on LinkedIn.

Indeed it is. Little wonder that there were many tearful reunions as the first three flights arrived. 9News reported that many onboard had been separated from loved ones for months – including one man who hadn’t seen his wife since February.
