Image of the Day: Proudly celebrating five years in Riyadh

Our regular feature celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns related to the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

SAUDI ARABIA. Today’s images highlight a key landmark in the impressive development of Riyadh Airports Company, which at the weekend celebrated its 5th anniversary.

It may be young, but Riyadh Airports, which manages and operates King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in the capital city, Riyadh, already ranks as one of the world’s most vibrant and forward-thinking airport companies.

Riyadh Airports Company was established as part of the privatisation programme of Saudi Arabia’s aviation sector. The company manages and operates King Khalid International Airport (KKIA) in the Saudi capital, and is  upgrading the KKIA infrastructure and expanding it with new services and facilities. The enhancements will include operating Terminal 6, set to be among the largest Middle East air terminals.

The timing could not have been any more auspicious, following on from the Eid al-Adha celebrations a few days earlier

As reported, Riyadh Airports Company (RAC) recently announced an extensive Request for Proposals (RFP) at KKIA through The Moodie Davitt Report.

RAC is inviting qualified international travel retailers to bid for various retail outlets and lounges. The bidding will be for the retail outlets and lounges located in KKIA’s refurbished international terminals, T3 and T4, that are set to open later this year.

The RFP includes 16 F&B outlets, with three packages of three units, plus seven individual units across the two terminals, covering both landside and airside.

Specialist retail units include packages covering three Travel Essentials CTN shops; two pharmacies; two fashion outlets; two authentic gift shops; and a watches and jewellery store.
