Image of the day (and a Moodie Davitt scoop): How Emirates is chilling out passengers in Dubai

Our daily feature celebrates memorable scenes, moments, launches and campaigns from the global aviation and travel retail sphere.

So you think it’s hot in continental Europe? Well you better stay away from Dubai, where the emirate is roasting in near 40-degree temperatures (peaking this week at 44 on Friday). It’s a bit cooler, of course, at Dubai International, home to Emirates, but that hasn’t stopped the airline from helping its passengers chill out with a scoop or two of complimentary ice-cream (that’s ice cream that only says nice things about you) as our images (courtesy of Peter Marshall, creator of irreverent travel retail blog TRunblocked). The service mirrors a similar initiative at Copenhagen Airport last month.

It’s a nice story, what Shakespeare might have called A Mid-Summer’s Ice Cream. And exactly the kind of, er… scoop we love to bring you.
