Ian Macleod Distillers set to launch travel retail exclusive The White Cask

Ian Macleod Distillers is expanding its Scotch whisky portfolio with the launch of a new Speyside single malt, The White Cask (41.1% ABV). The whisky will be exclusive to the travel retail channel for two years and unveiled at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes.

The White Cask, The First-Fill Edition 1 litre (RRP £39) is described by the brand owner as a contemporary and accessibly-priced malt. It targets ‘style-driven’ consumers, and bourbon and blended malt whisky drinkers.

The White Cask, The First-Fill Edition will be available in travel retail from February next year

The White Cask – which gives vanilla, honey, citrus and apple notes on the palate – takes its name from the North American White Oak (Quercus Alba), which Ian Macleod Distillers noted is favoured by bourbon makers.

The company said the specially selected white oak bourbon barrels used to mature the new whisky deliver ‘maximum flavour’.

Ian Macleod Distillers Global Travel Retail Director William Ovens said: “We are thrilled to introduce The White Cask exclusively to the travel retail market. The White Cask is a new disruptive Scotch whisky which brings something unique to the category and complements our portfolio perfectly.”

He added: “The White Cask is one of the few malts which appeals to the younger and more contemporary audience. The travel retail market is the perfect environment for us to seed the brand for a future domestic launch.”
