Ian Macleod Distillers plots further investment in travel retail

Ian Macleod Distillers is set to invest further in the global travel retail channel, with plans to be revealed at the forthcoming TFWA World Exhibition & Conference (Red Village L7).

The company said it will intensify its focus on the business through new and creative activations, channel-exclusive products and an enlarged global travel retail team.

Ian Macleod is set to reveal a new travel shopping-exclusive for its Edinburgh gin range at TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes.

As reported, Ian Macleod recently appointed William Ovens as Global Travel Retail Director.

“We are ambitious and looking to develop the strong platform we have in the channel,” Ovens said.

“We now have a range of products, many created specifically for travel retail, which are innovative and distinctive and build on Ian Macleod Distillers’ reputation for quality. We also have exciting new activation platforms which will raise the profile of our brands in this key channel.”

The company will introduce a new global travel shopping-exclusive for Edinburgh gin at Cannes. Smokehead Extra Rare single malt whisky, which is also exclusive to the channel, will be presented with updated packaging.

Ian Macleod will spotlight its range of blended whiskies, which includes King Robert II, Pig’s Nose and Sheep Dip and Langs, which features new packaging and a range of expressions.

“In addition to investing in our brands, we are investing in our global travel retail team,” Ovens added. “The vast majority of our global travel retail business is handled in-house allowing us to develop close relationships with key customers.”

Ian Macleod Distillers’ travel retail-focused core brand portfolio is rooted in single malt and blended Scotch whisky and gin. It includes Glengoyne, Tamdhu and Smokehead single malts, King Robert II blended whisky and Edinburgh gin.
