CHINA. Newly established Hainan offshore duty free retailer Hainan Tourism Investment Duty Free Co (HTI) has joined forces with China’s largest independent digital agency Hylink in a wide-ranging promotional partnership.
As reported, HTI opened its new Hainan Tourism Downtown Duty Free Shopping Complex store in Sanya on 30 December. Lagardère Travel Retail provides supply and services to the licence holder.
In a release on its website, first published by Marketing-Interactive, Hylink said that its partnership with HTI will drive continued consumer demand through travel retail brand partnerships. The alliance will also develop more potential business models and retail partners within the burgeoning duty free/travel retail sector; and plan ahead of the development of the Hainan Free Trade Port in 2025 and beyond.
Under the terms of the agreement Hylink will take charge of planning, promoting, and executing industry summits and events, managing themed retail communities, and developing peripheral products.
Hylink and HTI’s parent company Hainan Tourism Investment Co will collaborate and host large-scale international events, including duty free and travel retail annual summits, and online and offline shopping festivals. Hylink is tasked with building a duty free & travel retail themed livestreaming studio designed to attract renowned global brands to participate in promotional events.
Hylink said that it will leverage its global expertise in digital marketing together with HTI. Both parties will consolidate a long-term strategic partnership and bring new opportunities to the Sanya tourism economic zone, jointly working to promote the development of Hainan Free Trade Port and Hainan’s brand image as a duty-free shopping paradise.
Look out for an interviews with HTI and Lagardère Travel Retail in the forthcoming special Hainan digital edition of The Moodie Davitt Report Magazine (see below for details).
