Hong Kong International Airport calls tender for ‘fast fashion’ licences

HONG KONG. Airport Authority Hong Kong has invited potential partners to bid for two ‘fast fashion’ licences covering almost 2,000sq m of space at Hong Kong International Airport (HKIA) Terminal 1.

The airside stores measure 894sq m (licence A) and 1,000sq m (licence B) and are located in the East Hall, Level 6. The latter space is currently occupied by Zara. The airport company said it is inviting bids on both options before assessing the way forward.

The airport company said the licences “present a unique business opportunity for fast fashion retailers”. It cited the 74.7 million passengers who travelled through the airport in 2018, and the “affluent mix”, with 46% identified as “executives, professionals and proprietors”.

The bid deadline is 18 July.

In related news, Airport Authority Hong Kong has invited interest in a luxury fashion concession, also in the East Hall. The space available measures 106sq m. The deadline for bids is also 18 July.
