HMSHost’s Airport Restaurant Month lands at over 50 airports

NORTH AMERICA. HMSHost’s Airport Restaurant Month is taking place throughout May at nearly 100 restaurant locations in more than 50 airports across North America.

HMSHost’s culinary team created a single-plated chef’s tasting menu designed specifically with a traveller’s need for speed of service in mind. According to HMSHost, each dish is ‘perfectly’ plated together to help “expedite the dining experience for the time conscious traveller so they can enjoy at their own pace.”

This May’s Airport Restaurant Month menu is said to give travellers a variety of offerings, from hearty meals to lighter options. Individual restaurants are offering special customised tasting menus that spotlight their own flavours and trends. Wicker Park Seafood & Sushi at Chicago O’Hare offers a tasting menu, and a celebrity chef driven menu from Chef Lorena Garcia features at the Lorena Garcia Tapas Y Cocina at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

A sample of the dishes on the tasting menu include:

  • Flatbreads such as the Heirloom Tomato or the Crispy Eggplant that feature a creamy brie, caramelised onions, baby spinach, and a honey mustard vinaigrette
  • Sandwiches including Grilled Chicken Gyro or the Cilantro Lime Shrimp Wrap which come in a flour tortilla with jalapeño crema, roasted corn, and black bean slaw
  • Premium beef burgers such as the Asian Burger with hoisin ketchup, ginger sesame cabbage slaw, chilli garlic mayonnaise or the Caprese Burger with vine ripe tomato, mozzarella, balsamic onions, and a basil pesto aioli
  • Entrées including the Pan Roasted Salmon or the Grilled Shrimp Skewers with pineapple, scallions, toasted 
sesame, and a hoisin glaze.

The above dishes come with a variety of accompaniments, including a Peach Arugula Salad with roasted red peppers, toasted walnut, and strawberry balsamic vinaigrette. Other options include pickled vegetables, parmesan seasoned fries, grilled asparagus and a daily creation of a chef’s potato.

HMSHost’s sommeliers have matched suggested wines for each Airport Restaurant Month dish. The wine suggestions aim to balance the flavour characteristics of each dish with the flavour profile of each wine to create the “perfect pairing”.
