HMSHost strikes seven-year contract extension at Las Vegas McCarran Airport

USA. Autogrill subsidiary HMSHost has been awarded a seven-year contract extension at Las Vegas McCarran international Airport, which it said would deliver US$1.5 billion in sales over the period. The extension takes HMSHost’s term from 2028 to 2035.

The contract extension, approved by the Clark County Board of Commissioners, provides for refurbishment of existing units and the opening of additional spaces from 2021.

Among the recently opened restaurants by HMSHost included in the extension are Shake Shack and the first North American airport-located Pret A Manger. HMSHost said it would bring some of the Las Vegas region’s “most beloved local coffee and restaurant brands into the airport” in future. Anticipated openings also include some of the group’s proprietary concepts such as La Familia and PZA.

HMSHost operates over 60 restaurants at the airport. These include Sammy’s Beach Bar & Grill, Las Vegas ChopHouse, Metro Pizza, PGA TOUR Grill, Ruby’s Diner, and Brookwood Farms BBQ among many others.

“We are extremely pleased to extend what’s been a longstanding and productive partnership with HMSHost,” said Clark County Director of Aviation Rosemary Vassiliadis. “Passenger traffic at McCarran International Airport hit an all-time high of 51.5 million last year, our third consecutive year of record volume. Along with the brands our customers already love, we’re also seeking new and different food & beverage concepts and services to better support our expanding customer base. A mix of the familiar coupled with diverse new options will better reflect our standing as a leading international destination, and we’re confident the team at HMSHost will help us to achieve our goals, enhancing our customers’ experience along the way.”

“We are extremely pleased with this new important agreement, further strengthening our sound partnership with McCarran International Airport and confirming our group’s leadership in the airport channel in North America,” said Autogrill Group CEO Gianmario Tondato Da Ruos. “Thanks to a unique concession platform and to our operational excellence, we are a point of reference for the whole industry and a trusted partner for the world’s most relevant landlords.”

“With this approval from Clark County, HMSHost has the opportunity to build on the great partnership we have with McCarran International Airport and deliver the industry’s best dining experiences to Las Vegas travellers. We thank the County Commission and airport team for this extension as we look forward to creating and opening these new restaurants together,” said HMSHost President and CEO Steve Johnson.
