HMSHost sees new partnership with FLIO app as vital to its omnichannel strategy

Travellers will be able to access restaurant information and coupons using the FLIO app

INTERNATIONAL. Restaurateur HMSHost International has announced a partnership with airport app provider FLIO.

The app will allow HMSHost to communicate directly with customers by providing information on where to find places to eat or drink at the airport. It also offers benefits such as coupons for promotional activities in restaurants, the company said.

The FLIO app will be available at more than 50 of the company’s point of sales at airports worldwide.

HMSHost said the partnership represented an “important first step” in its omnichannel strategy to connect with travellers and offer as seamless an experience as possible.

“The FLIO app provides a complete offering including information about airport food & beverage which is crucial to us and indispensable in the traveller’s experience,” said HMSHost International Director Marketing and Communications Marlijn van Straaten.

“We know travellers often have a lack of knowledge about the options they have at an airport and end up in a restaurant that is nearest to them, rather than their preferred choices. Offering relevant information on the food & beverage offering at airports via FLIO takes away that friction and at the same time contributes to our objective to make travellers’ time at airports as efficient and enjoyable as possible.

“To reach travellers at the right moment is key. We have to be where our guests are, which nowadays is on their phones. That is why we started working with FLIO – they can help us promote our concepts all over the world, and in the meantime we learn more about customer behaviour.”

The partnership covers food & beverage locations such as Starbucks and LEON at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol and Pier Zero in Helsinki, and the app is also available at four airports in the UK.
