HMSHost scores another opening at Piedmont Triad International with ACC American Café

USA. HMSHost has partnered with OHM Concession Group to open the ACC American Café at Piedmont Triad International Airport in North Carolina. The outlet, located in the South Concourse, is themed around the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC), a US collegiate athletic conference.

The menu offers familiar American dishes with a modern twist. HMSHost has focused on healthy foods designed for athletes and travellers alike, reflecting close links with the ACC in its hometown of Greensboro, North Carolina.

The ACC is an intercollegiate conference that has been running for 64 years. The member universities compete in 27 sports at the highest levels, based on the founding principle of balance between academia, athletics and integrity. An annual contribution to the ACC Postgraduate Scholarship will also be made by HMSHost, to support selected student-athletes during their academic careers.

ACC Commissioner John Swofford said: “This initiative directly benefits the league’s student-athletes through an annual contribution to the ACC Postgraduate Scholarship fund. The ACC was founded in Greensboro in 1953, and we appreciate the relationship between our league and this great city.”

Dishes designed by HMSHost include light choices such as Miami style ceviche, chopped kale salad and quinoa stuffed portabella.  Heartier fare includes a black & blue steak roasted flatbread and the Carolina pulled pork sandwich.

The ACC American Café is the sixth new dining space opened by HMSHost in less than a year at Piedmont Triad International Airport. Others include The Great American Bagel, PGA Tour Grill and The Local @ GSO.  The first ACC American Café was opened by HMSHost at Raleigh-Durham International Airport in 2014.

“Piedmont Triad International is an ideal location to feature the ACC and the legendary college sports they represent,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Bryan Loden. “We are also very happy to have our full new restaurant line-up [at the airport] now open. We could not have done it without the airport’s outstanding partnership.”

Airport Authority Chairman Steve Showfety commented: “The Piedmont Triad is proud to be the host for so many ACC events. The airport is committed to putting our best foot forward for visitors to these events and for all of our passengers. The ACC American Café allows us to take our offerings up another notch.”
