USA. HMSHost Foundation has presented a US$5,000 grant to Dress for Success Memphis, a charity which aims to empower women in the local community to achieve success and economic independence.
The grant was presented on behalf of HMSHost Foundation by leaders of airport restaurant operator HMSHost Corporation and Memphis International Airport at a Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority board meeting.
HMSHost Foundation President Paul Mamalian said: “We are very excited to present this grant to Dress for Success Memphis in support of the organisation’s efforts in the community. HMSHost Foundation’s mission is to break the cycle of poverty.
“The workforce development carried out every day by Dress for Success Memphis to help disadvantaged women is vital to a functioning workforce and we know that Dress for Success Memphis will translate this grant money into more stories of success in Memphis.”
Dress for Success Memphis Executive Director Rhonda Treadwell commented: “HMSHost Foundation’s donation helps make a difference in the lives of hundreds of women in the Memphis and Shelby County Area.”
She said the grant would assist Dress for Success Memphis in its mission to provide day-to-day services and to continue to promote the economic independence of disadvantaged women by providing professional attire, a network of support and the career development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.
“We are sincerely grateful,” she added.
HMSHost Foundation’s support of Dress for Success Memphis is part of its mission to fight poverty in local communities across the USA. Since its establishment, the foundation has made nearly US$300,000 in grants to poverty-fighting organisations.
Earlier this year, the foundation presented a US$20,000 grant to Grace-Mar Services in support of programmes to provide needy people with employment opportunities at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
