HMSHost builds on North American presence with New Jersey motorway contract

USA. In a big boost to its North American food & beverage business, HMSHost has extended a major motorway services concession in New Jersey until 2044.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority has confirmed a 25-year contract for HMSHost to continue to operate food & beverage and retail at service areas along the New Jersey Turnpike and the Garden State Parkway. New restaurant brands will be added to those HMSHost offers and the facilities will be redeveloped.

“HMSHost is thrilled to have the opportunity to continue partnering with the New Jersey Turnpike Authority to serve travellers on the roadways of New Jersey,” said HMSHost President and CEO Steve Johnson. “We thank the NJTA and look forward to being a part of travellers’ journeys by welcoming them to upgraded, state-of-the-art facilities with popular brands.”

The areas will be rebuilt or redeveloped with major changes to create more open, bright spaces, and a focus on traveller safety, enhanced dining with additional seating, modernisation, and restroom expansion.

Starbucks is one of the many well-known F&B brands managed by HMSHost across its airport and motorway locations in North America

HMSHost will operate in 17 service areas, delivering made-to-order dining options, and well-known brands such as Burger King, Popeye’s, Refresh&Co and Starbucks. Additional restaurant brands will be announced in the future.

“We are excited to have the opportunity to greatly enhance the traveller experience with upgraded facilities along the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway,” said HMSHost Vice President of Business Development Amy Dunne. “We have big plans to evolve the dining offerings at these service areas with new and innovative concepts, while also delivering popular restaurants that travellers have come to love.”
