AUSTRALIA. HMSHost Australia has launched a new Bring Your Own (BYO) campaign at four of its food & beverage outlets at Cairns Airport in Queensland.
Customers bringing reusable cups to the outlets will receive a 50c (AUD) discount on hot beverages, in a move aimed at reducing plastic waste at the airport.
HMSHost said that it wanted to encourage more travellers to bring their own reusable travel cups and reduce plastic disposables through incentives and support.
The new BYO offer is valid at four participating F&B outlets: Skybury Café Arrivals, Skybury Café Departures, Great Northern Bar & Eatery, and Urban Food Market.
HMSHost Australia Operations Manager Taleala Wilce-Bone said: “We hope to spark conversations and encourage travellers feeling good on the move to join us in adopting sustainable habits.”
As part of its drive to be more environmentally-friendly, earlier this year HMSHost Australia introduced compostable coffee cups and “straws-upon-request” at various F&B outlets in Cairns Airport.
HMSHost Australia and NZ General Manager Anne Singe said: “Now, we have taken a step further where travellers can play a part in our green mission, to do something good for the community and the environment as well.”
HMSHost Australia operates a total of seven casual and quick-service dining concepts at Cairns Airport’s domestic terminal.
