“Historic high”: Qatar Airways celebrates arrival of its 250th aircraft

QATAR. Qatar Airways is celebrating the delivery of its 250th aircraft – the latest addition to its growing fleet of passenger, cargo and executive aircraft.

The airline said the Airbus A350-900 takes it to an “historic high” and will support growth in new markets and destinations.

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive His Excellency Akbar Al Baker said: “I am extremely proud that we have reached this historic landmark of having a fleet that now numbers 250 aircraft. The delivery of our newest Airbus A350-900 is a mark of the outstanding growth we have seen over the last two decades, and to our commitment to flying only the newest and most technologically-advanced aircraft in the world.”

He noted the airline’s progress, which included the expansion of its global route network and an enhanced onboard product offering in all cabin classes, and its mission to offer passengers an “unforgettable experience”.

Al Baker predicted further growth in the coming years. The airline’s route network, which includes over 160 destinations worldwide, will be extended later this year to include Lisbon, Portugal; Malta; Rabat, Morocco; Izmir, Turkey; Langkawi, Malaysia; Davao, Philippines; and Mogadishu, Somalia.

Qatar Airways was named as the ‘World’s Best Business Class’ by the 2018 World Airline Awards, managed by international air transport rating organisation Skytrax. It was also named ‘Best Business Class Seat’, ‘Best Airline in the Middle East’, and ‘World’s Best First Class Airline Lounge’.
