High-powered duty free panel confirmed for AAA Retail & Commercial Forum

AUSTRALIA. Senior figures from Perth Airport, Auckland Airport, Heinemann Australia and DFS Group will join what promises to be a compelling session dedicated to the duty free channel at next month’s Australian Airports Association (AAA) Retail & Commercial Forum.

The event, which takes place on Gold Coast on 20-21 July, is organised in cooperation between the AAA, The Moodie Davitt Report and The Mercurius Group. Registration is available at this link.

The panel includes:

  • Auckland Airport Head of Retail Lucy Thomas
  • Perth Airport Chief Commercial Officer Kate Holsgrove
  • Heinemann Australia Managing Director George Tsoukalas
  • DFS Group Vice President Oceania Prashant Mahboobani
Leading a strong panel of speakers on the theme of duty free are (clockwise from top left) Lucy Thomas, George Tsoukalas, Prashant Mahboobani and Kate Holsgrove

The speakers bring together a broad and diverse array of experience from across the channel. They will address a series of themes including:

  • The challenge of growing duty free passenger spend rates;
  • The impact of changing geopolitics on the outlook for duty free in the Pacific;
  • The challenge and opportunity of online retailing;
  • Duty free’s price positioning versus other channels;
  • Brand- and category-driven approaches to the business;
  • Challenges posed by labour shortages and construction cost rises.

More announcements on other event partners and sessions will appear soon. More details can be found at this link.

Just 200 places are available on a first-come, first-served basis. As reported, the Forum is a celebration of survival and resilience for the airport commercial sector as well as an opportunity for airports of all sizes to better understand how to improve non-aeronautical revenues.
