Harry Potter specialist Museum Context opens at Hong Kong Airport in new pop-up zone

HONG KONG. A store specialising in official Harry Potter merchandise has opened for business at Hong Kong International Airport.

Museum Context has taken up residence in one of two 300sq ft units newly allocated for pop-up shops in a prominent location in the Terminal 1 Departures Check-in Hall.

The new pop-up store is prominently located in Hong Kong International Airport’s main departures level.

Museum Context’s flagship store is located in Victoria Street in Edinburgh, Scotland, where it sells officially licensed merchandise, including Harry Potter-related products. It was opened by husband and wife team Andrew and Alice McCrae in 2011.

The landside retail store becomes Museum Context’s fourth location in Hong Kong, with other stores in Causeway Bay, Taikoo Shing and Harbour City.

Museum Context is selling books, toys and stationery, including many replica items that are identifiable from the eight Harry Potter films.

Hong Kong International Airport told The Moodie Davitt Report that it is keen to discuss ‘special concept’ pop-ups with potential new retailers, brands and concepts.

In related news, a local Hong Kong retailer has recently opened a permanent store named Salley’s Garden in Terminal 1. It specialises in tea-related products including floral tea, tea leaves, ceramic and porcelain teaware and a variety of gift sets.

Down by the salley gardens
   my love and I did meet;
She passed the salley gardens
   with little snow-white feet.
She bid me take love easy,
   as the leaves grow on the tree;
But I, being young and foolish,
   with her would not agree. – William Butler Yeats
Yeats himself might have admired this beautiful boutique which specialises in tea-related products.
