Hanse Distribution has been appointed the exclusive global travel retail distributor for sustainable jewellery brand Bracenet.
Bracenet was created with the aim of drawing attention to a serious problem which affects the world’s seas and oceans: the so-called ‘ghost nets’. These abandoned fishing nets continue to fish unchecked and can drift across seas for up to 600 years. They eventually turn into deadly traps for anything that gets in their way.
Thousands of tortoises, dolphins, whales, sharks and seabirds die each year in these nets.
Bracenet makes wristbands from the waste fishing nets that are collected by Healthy Seas and Ghost Fishing. The nets are cleaned and sorted by Nofir AS before Bracenet manually produces bracelets.
Every Bracenet is given a number and the customer can see which particular piece of the net they are holding in their hands. Every Bracenet comes with a matching stainless steel lock.
Hanse Distribution Sales Director Inflight Anna Berezhnaya said: “We are very proud to have been chosen by Bracenet as an exclusive distributor of the brand in the travel retail channel. The first secured listings are with Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines and Condor, and we have received very positive feedback from many other airline partners worldwide.
“We believe that passengers are willing to buy not just another gift onboard, but to buy something that serves a good purpose. We all see how important sustainability is becoming in every aspect of business, and we are very happy that many airlines are interested in this really unique concept that Bracenet offers.“
