Hanse Distribution is partnering with Danish brand Sprout Europe to distribute its eco-friendly products in travel retail.
Sprout products, which include pencils, paper and cards, can all be planted after use to grow into herbs, fruits, flowers and trees.
The brand’s hero product is the patented Sprout pencil, available in graphite and colour. The pencil is being offered with postcards and a colouring book as part of an inflight-exclusive product offer. Prices range between €15 to €25.
Once the coloured pencils have been planted they will grow into plants of the same colour, according to the brand. For example, a red pencil will grow into a cherry tomato plant and a green pencil into a basil plant.
The postcards in the gift sets are seeded and blank so people can draw their own pictures before sending them to others. Once read, the recipient can plant the postcards to grow into wild flowers.
The Sprout packages launched at last year’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes and listings for Q2 2017 have been confirmed by Lufthansa, Austrian Airlines, Air Baltic, Singapore Airlines, Silk Air, Air China and Hainan Airlines. There are pending listings on a further 20 airlines, said Hanse Distribution.
