Hamad International wins ‘Best Overall Airport in the World’ at Global Traveler awards

QATAR. Hamad International Airport has been named ‘Best Overall Airport in the World’ at the 19th Annual Global Traveler Tested Reader Survey Awards. The Doha gateway also wonthe  ‘Best Airport in the Middle East’ award for the sixth consecutive year.

The awards are voted for by readers of Global Traveler, the monthly magazine published for frequent luxury business and leisure travellers.

The company called these wins a “testament to Hamad International Airport’s commitment towards a passenger-first approach, which focuses on creating a bespoke experience with safety, security, stress-free travelling and sustainability at the core of the airport’s business.”

Michael McMillan: Creating new memories through the airport experience

Hamad International Airport Senior Vice President for Facilities Management Michael McMillan said: “It is indeed a great achievement for Hamad International Airport to be recognised as Best Overall Airport by Global Traveler Awards. Hamad International Airport was also recognised as one of the top five in each of the following categories: Best Airport Dining, Best Airport Shopping, Best Duty-Free Shopping in the World and Best Duty-Free Shopping in the Middle East.

Launched in 2014, Hamad International Airport has continued to expand its network and now serves 170 destinations worldwide.

As reported, the airport opened Phase A of its expansion project in November 2022 with a new attraction – The Orchard, ahead of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. It began Phase B in January 2023.

The airport company, part of the Qatar Airways Group, said that it will continue to transform the industry by introducing innovative experiences.

Global Traveler has nearly 550,000 readers, mainly US-based frequent and affluent international travellers. The annual GT Tested Reader Survey Awards are conducted based on an independently verified online survey of the readers of Global Traveler magazine.✈
