Hamad International Airport and Qatar Duty Free win two accolades at Travel Retail Awards

QATAR. Hamad International Airport (HIA) and Qatar Duty Free (QDF) have each won a major accolade at the recent ‘consumer-voted’ Travel Retail Awards 2020, staged by publisher Travel Retail Business. They took the ‘Best Airport Voted For By Millennials’ and ‘Best Airport Retail Environment’ titles respectively.

A plethora of space for brands coveted by younger passengers contributed to Hamad International’s triumph in the ‘Best Airport Voted For By Millennials’

Over 5,000 passengers who had travelled within the past six months voted on the activities of 61 airports worldwide to identify the winners.

Reflecting on its award, HIA said Millenials are a key demographic for the airport, describing its offer as a “diverse lifestyle destination that puts passengers at the heart of its strategy”.

Qatar Duty Free claimed the ‘Best Airport Retail Environment’ title thanks its diverse retail and F&B offer across 40,000 sq m at Hamad International

QDF’s triumph in the retail category was aided by recent new store openings which have added to the 40,000 sq m of combined shopping and dining experiences operated by the travel retailer.

HIA said that it is continuing to work on its expansion, which will increase QDF’s shopping and food & beverage space by 30%.
