MIDDLE EAST. Jordanian Duty Free Shops CEO Haitham Al Majali has been elected President of the The Middle East & Africa Duty Free Association (MEADFA), replacing Dubai Duty Free Vice President Operations Sean Staunton.
Al Majali’s election took place at the MEADFA AGM on 21 March. He will serve until February 2019 along with the following officers:
- Nuno Amaral, AerRianta International Middle East – Vice President
- Tarek Hamila, Hamila Duty Free – Treasurer
- Sherif Toulan, International Duty Free and Trading Agencies Ltd – Secretary General
- Sean Staunton, Dubai Duty Free
- Luis Gasset, Qatar Duty Free Company
- John Reynolds, Chalhoub Group
- Erik Juul-Mortensen, Tax Free World Association
- Taleb Izmigna, Dufry Jordan – Jordan Airport Duty Free
- Karl Raphael, Aphrodite Duty Free Shops
- Nicolas Van Brandt, IDF Africa & Middle East DWC – LLC
Sean Staunton expressed his thanks to the outgoing Board members for their support and contribution to making MEADFA as successful as it is today. He welcomed the new Board members and wished the new President Haitham Al Majali and the officers elected the best of luck in running the Association.
Haitham Al Majali said: “I am excited and honored to take on this role. Being a founding member of MEADFA, I witnessed the growth and strategic development of the Association over the past 16 years.
“Sean Staunton has definitely broadened the association’s perspective; I would like to congratulate him on leading the board through a very successful term.
