CHINA.  All Hainan downtown duty free stores remain closed due to the COVID-19 outbreak on the island.

Local authorities reported 482 new locally transmitted cases on 16 August, representing 85.2% of cases across Mainland China. The numbers exclude symptomatic cases.

Here is the latest situation.

Haikou: As reported, all offline stores closed on 17 August just a day after reopening. This continued a stop-start pattern that had seen retailers forced to first shut their offline operations on 8 August before being allowed to reopen the next day but then close again on 10 August.

Sanya: Stores in Sanya run by China Duty Free Group (Haitang Bay), CNSC and HTDF remain shut. The CNSC and HTDF stores closed on 4 August and the vast China Duty Free Group complex a day later.
