CHINA. The inaugural China International Consumer Products Expo (Hainan Expo) in Haikou, Hainan province (7-10 May) can now receive exhibition materials direct from the European Union (EU) thanks to a new Hainan Airlines transcontinental cargo route between the island and Paris.

Hainan Airlines will transport high-demand goods in both directions on a regular basis, allowing European exhibitors to address the challenges of transporting samples and exhibition equipment.

Earlier, HNA Cargo, the logistics subsidiary of the group represented by Hainan Airlines, signed an agreement with the French firm Dynamic Parcel Distribution (a subsidiary of the postal conglomerate La Poste) to promote cooperation in the field of duty free air transportation and cross-border ecommerce.

In accordance with the agreement, the Boeing 787-900 is flying between the administrative centre of Hainan, Haikou, and the French capital twice a week. The first flight was successfully carried out on 27 March: the southernmost province of China delivered 35 tonnes of cargo to Paris.

The first China International Consumer Products Expo will be attended by 630 overseas companies from 69 countries.

As reported, the Expo is co-sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce and the People’s Government of Hainan Province, and is the first state-level exhibition to focus on consumer products. It is being organised by Hainan Provincial Bureau of International Economic Development (Hainan IEDB).
