CHINA/INTERNATIONAL. Interest is surging in the forthcoming ‘Hainan Discovery’ zone at the Virtual Travel Retail Expo to be held on 11-15 October.

The event – the only global virtual exhibition in the travel retail industry – is organised by The Moodie Davitt Report and digital/design partner FILTR.QINGWA.

The addition of the Hainan Discovery zone in 2021 underlines the extraordinary success of Hainan’s offshore duty free sector, said The Moodie Davitt Report Founder & Chairman Martin Moodie.

“We have received very encouraging reaction to the Expo, in general, and the Hainan Discovery zone, in particular,” Moodie said. “We are expecting several of Hainan’s leading duty free retailers to exhibit while leading international brands and service companies will also be present.”

Through a series of digital touchpoints, each exhibitor can showcase their brands, new launches or stores. Each exhibitor is given a dedicated account manager free of charge by the organisers to help digitalise their stands.

Several of Hainan’s leading duty free retailers have pledged to exhibit at Virtual Travel Retail Expo 2021 while leading international brands and service companies will also be present

In addition to Chinese companies, several major international retailers are exhibiting at the event. They include Dubai Duty Free; Qatar Duty Free; Duty Free Americas; cruiseline retailers Harding and Starboard Cruise Services; Ever Rich Duty Free and more.

Brands to exhibit include Diageo, Pernod Ricard, Beam Suntory, Bacardi, Ferrero, Duty Free Global, iClick, Shiseido, Stoli Group, Filorga, L’Occitane, Lindt, Nestlé, Philip Morris International, Zegna and many others.

Last year’s event attracted 124 exhibitors; 4,373 unique visitors; and 179,734 stand & content views. The software platform has been enhanced this year to improve visitor engagement. Changes include a dual language (English-Chinese) facility and a dedicated Chinese server.
