Guerlain embraces virtual format for latest fragrance launches

Orange Soleia and Granada Salvia are the two latest additions to the Guerlain Aqua Allegoria fragrance range

LVMH-owned fragrance and beauty house Guerlain held its first-ever ‘Private Live’ digital fragrance event on 8 July to launch the Orange Soleia and Granada Salvia scents.

These are new additions to the Aqua Allegoria collection and are available in worldwide travel retail.

The inaugural session — which was attended by The Moodie Davitt Report — was hosted by Guerlain Master Perfumer Thierry Wasser. He introduced the new lines and took guests on an intimate virtual tour of Guerlain’s French headquarters.

The complete Aqua Allegoria collection features 12 fragrances created by Wasser and Guerlain Perfumer Delphine Jelk. Jelk described the Aqua Allegoria collection as a “garden of poetries” and took virtual guests through the inspiration behind the Orange Soleia and Granada Salvia scents.

Orange Soleia was inspired by Sicilian citrus groves and offers zesty mint, pink peppercorn and bergamot top notes, blood orange heart notes and gourmand tonka bean base notes.

Granada Salvia is a fruity citrus scent that blends pomegranate heart notes with crisp blackcurrant, cypress, lemon and bergamot top notes, with white musk, moss and patchouli notes as its base.

Inspired by the Italian summer: Both fragrances feature Bergamot, which is the signature olfactory note in the Aqua Allegoria collection

She said, “Each fragrance expresses the wonders of nature. There is unlimited expression and it’s such a pleasure to imagine the new collection and season.

“Aqua Allegoria expresses happiness, joy and authenticity. It’s like a feel good therapy that we need so much, now more than ever.”

The Private Live session also gave audiences an in-depth look into Guerlain’s rich Bergamot heritage, and how the note is at the heart of Guerlain’s entire fragrance portfolio.

‘Bergamot King’ Gianfranco Capua — who leads family-owned Italian citrus oil company Capua 1880 —  took guests through Guerlain’s distinctive Bergamot sourcing process. Capua, who has been in the Bergamot oil business for 40 years, is the fourth generation in the family of Calabrian Bergamot farmers.
