Guadalajara International Airport to issue RFP for food & beverage services

MEXICO. Guadalajara (GDL) International Airport is set to release a Request for Proposal (RFP) for 20 food & beverage spaces within the international boarding lounge.

GDL is run by Grupo Aeroportuario del Pacífico (GAP), which also operates another 11 airports in Mexico and two in Jamaica.

GAP is completing the refurbishment of the entire international lounge, a process that began in 2021. The lounge remodelling will include some commercial areas for general retail, duty free shops and food & beverage.

Guadalajara International Airport is the gateway to a vast metropolis with the second-highest population density in Mexico. Passenger numbers have rebounded strongly since the pandemic eased.

GDL’s F&B RFP includes 2,790sq m of commercial area that will be refurbished. This embraces F&B units across categories including casual dining, fast food, bars, grab & go, cafes and dessert outlets.

The units will be handed over to the awarded companies over different dates according to the RFP calendar.

GDL said the RFP winners will provide the best food menus and a wide variety of brands that meet passenger expectations.

Sealed proposals in packages will be received at GAP headquarters by the commercial team according to the schedule below.

GAP will conduct two information sessions on 15 December, one at 09:00 and the other at 12:00 (Centre of Mexico Time). A registration link will be enabled, and it is obligatory for all parties interested in participating in the RFP process to register their attendance.

GDL is the third-busiest airport in Mexico behind Aeropuerto Internacional Benito Juárez (Mexico City) and Cancún International Airport and the second-busiest for air cargo flights.

It has two runways and a second terminal will be built soon. It has flights to several places in Mexico and USA and some routes to Central America. Also, a new direct route to Madrid was added recently.

GAP will construct a second terminal for GDL. The construction will increase the airport’s capacity to more closely resemble that of Mexico City International Airport.

International passengers account for 30% of GDL’s traffic. It is estimated that by the end of 2022 Guadalajara Airport will have served 15 million passengers.
