US. Airport ecommerce platform Grab has introduced its new ‘bring your own device’ Order at Table (OAT) technology to Dallas Fort Worth International Airport. The technology allows customers to order from their own devices without having to download an additional mobile application.
The technology is available at the SSP America-operated Flying Saucer Draught Emporium. The outlet features a range of craft beers and hosts regular live musical performances.
The Order at Table technology removes the high-touch elements of sit-down dining, without sacrificing the overall hospitality experience, said the partners. It gives customers more freedom to browse menus, order and pay digitally all through their own mobile devices.
“Technology will play a key role in the recovery of the travel experience” — SSP America Chief Commercial Officer Pat Banducci
“In this new normal, the importance of contactless technology and the ability to digitally order at any location is no longer a luxury, but a necessity,” said Grab Chief Experience Officer Jeff Livney. “As US airports see enplanements come back, we hope our platform will help to ease the stress of travelling while health and safety concerns are at front of mind for travellers.”
SSP America Chief Commercial Officer Pat Banducci commented, “Technology will play a key role in the recovery of the travel experience. Through our partnership with Grab, we look to continue to help facilitate that recovery by implementing self-order and pay solutions to drive the business forward.”
As reported, Grab has recently partnered with mobile ordering and delivery company AtYourGate to provide food and retail services to travellers as they wait for their flights. The services “give flexibility to passengers who will be able to order from their own devices while socially distancing,” said the partners. The agreement will cover participating food & beverage and retail concessions in North America initially.
