Swiss chocolate manufacturer Goldkenn has underlined its intention to help the plight of African elephants through the launch of a new tin of chocolate treats.
The 130g Amarula Chocolate Delights contains Swiss milk chocolates filled with Amarula cream liqueur-flavoured ganache and joins the brand’s 100g Amarula Liquor Bar. Goldkenn said the chocolates contain UTZ-certified cocoa and cacao butter instead of palm oil. All royalties from the range are donated to the Amarula Trust.
Distell’s Amarula cream liqueur brand formed the trust in 2002. Last year Amarula won a 2017 African Leaders 4 Change Award for its efforts in conserving and protecting the African elephant through the organisation.
Amarula was recognised for its #DontLetThemDisappear campaign [see video below]. One elephant is lost every 15 minutes to ivory poaching in Africa – the campaign aims to raise global awareness of the African elephant’s plight.

The Amarula Trust also emphasises the role of the Marula tree which bears fruit only once a year and is a source of food for the elephants, as well as a key ingredient in the Amarula liqueur and Goldkenn Amarula range.
Goldkenn products carry a Swiss Made label. The brand collaborates with a number of spirits and liqueur brands including Jack Daniel’s, Rémy Martin, Cointreau, Famous Grouse, Captain Morgan and Amarula.
