Gold Coast Airport fast-tracks Airport Pharmacy opening following passenger demand

AUSTRALIA. Gold Coast Airport has opened an onsite pharmacy in response to passenger demand.

Airport Pharmacy now occupies the tenancy that was previously home to the official shop of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

In demand: Gold Coast passengers requested the opening of an airport pharmacy.

The airport said a recent passenger satisfaction survey had shown that a pharmacist was the most sought-after addition to the retail offering. It has therefore fast-tracked the opening.

The pharmacy will allow passengers to pick up prescriptions before departing, or upon arrival.

“When we asked our passengers what service they most wanted to see, there was overwhelming support for a pharmacy,” said Gold Coast Airport Chief Operating Officer Marion Charlton.

“We are constantly looking to improve our offering and know that Airport Pharmacy will be a welcome addition for our passengers.”

Airport Pharmacy will have a pharmacist onsite from 6.30am to 8.30pm daily and will also offer a range of products including cosmetics, perfumes, over-the-counter medication and vitamins.

Living well: Travellers can see a pharmacist, pick up prescriptions or purchase from a range of products.

The Gold Coast opening brings the number of Airport Pharmacy outlets to five. The other four are located at Adelaide, Brisbane, Cairns and Singapore Changi airports.

Airport Pharmacy Director Rajiv Bhindi commented: “People are looking for convenience and while the pharmacy will make life easier for passengers, it will also be great for the many staff and workers around the airport.

“Currently there is a limited number of after-hours and weekend pharmacies on the southern Gold Coast, so Airport Pharmacy will help meet the needs of the surrounding area as well.”
