RUSSIA. Global Blue has launched its tax refund service in Russia.
International shoppers will be able to save up to -18% on purchases made at premium department stores, shopping malls and brand boutiques in seven cities including Moscow, Saint Petersburg and Sochi. Further roll-out will take place throughout 2018.
The move follows the Russian Government’s tax-free shopping legislation, which was passed at the end of 2017. Russia aims to grow its position as an international shopping destination and attract more visitors.
The scheme is expected to boost the local retail trade by increasing the purchasing power of high-value shopping nationalities visiting Russia. These include Asian tourists, particularly Chinese, and shoppers from Germany, Turkey, Italy and the UK.
The tax refund specialist has partnered with Russian entrepreneur, philanthropist and local business expert Ruben Vardanyan to launch its business in the country.
Affiliated Global Blue merchants will benefit from the company’s digital innovations such as its Mobile Customer Care and Shop Tax Free app.
