CHINA. Global Blue and UnionPay International have created a tax free shopping portal for Chinese travellers.
The portal is hosted on UnionPay’s website and on its WeChat account. It aims to offer an easy way for the financial services company’s customers to find out about tax free shopping. The portal will also be launched on UnionPay’s app in early 2019.
Services available on the portal include Global Blue’s refund calculator and refund tracker. A refund office locator offers details of the nearest Global Blue refund locations, country by country.
UnionPay customers can also enrol onto the ‘Shop Tax Free Card’ scheme. The service allows shoppers to claim tax savings without having to fill in tax free forms.
The portal also gives users the option to download the ‘Shop Tax Free’ mobile app.
“Our cardholders can quickly find out how and where to shop and save at some of the best brands in the world,” said UnionPay International Product Director Shuan Ghaidan. “Integrating the Global Blue customer tools with the UnionPay mobile sites will help to simplify cardholders’ tax free shopping journey, making it a seamless experience.”
