Leading single malt Scotch whisky Glenfiddich has raised £150,000 (US$187,000) to help with the long-term support of the people of Ukraine.

As reported,  Glenfiddich offered 460 bottles of its Spirit of Speyside 2022 edition (The Cooper’s Cask) on Whisky Auctioneer earlier this month, with all proceeds going to the Disasters Emergency Committee’s Ukraine Humanitarian Appeal.

The Glenfiddich Spirit of Speyside is a long-established bottling which honours the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival. The expression features whisky from three oak barrels: virgin American oak, ex bourbon oak and refill American oak. It is bottled at cask strength, has a 60% ABV and each bottle is numbered and signed by Glenfiddich Malt Master Brian Kinsman.

Bottle number one was the highest value at the auction, raising £5,601 (US$6,700).

Glenfiddich Global Brand Director Claudia Falcone said: “We are so happy that this year’s Spirit of Speyside exclusive bottling has succeeded in raising such a significant sum of money for such an important cause.

“The Disasters Emergency Committee are doing invaluable work in the region, and we hope that this contribution will assist in providing some relief to the families impacted by the conflict.”

To ensure as much as possible was raised from the auction to support those affected, Whisky Auctioneer waived their selling fees and are donating the 10% buyer’s commission in addition to the hammer price raised.

Note. The Moodie Davitt Report published Travel Retail United, a fundraising initiative to help the Ukraine relief effort earlier this month.

A strictly humanitarian rather than political project, the initiative was generously supported by individuals and companies involved in the travel retail industry worldwide. Click here to open Travel Retail United.
