TAIPEI. Family-owned Scotch whisky brand Glenfarclas and local distributor Falconbrae have launched ‘The Beauty of Taiwan’ series exclusively through Ever Rich Duty Free at Taoyuan International Airport.
The limited-edition single malt Scotch whisky collection features bottlings from ten private casks. The first batch is available now and consists of four high-age private casks with labels featuring illustrations of Taiwan’s indigenous animals. The concept of the private casks is to tie in with the island’s historical milestones, making them attractive to enthusiasts looking for single malts to add to their collections, said the brand owner.

The Beauty of Taiwan (Formosan Clouded Leopard) Glenfarclas Single Malt Scotch Whisky 41 years old 1978 / 2019, private cask #764 has grape-like sweetness and wood aromas, said the brand owner. “The rich and creamy flavour delivers freshness and liveliness, reminiscent of the burgeoning economy in 1978 after the inauguration of Taiwan’s first highway.

The Beauty of Taiwan (Formosan Sambar) Glenfarclas Single Malt Scotch Whisky 39 year old 1980 / 2019, private cask #1415 comes with “a grassy and fruity flavour that carries a subtle blooming and rich taste delivering a slightly sweet and solid finish”. In 1980 the Hsinchu Science Park started to operate and ushered in the start of the high-tech era for Taiwan.

The Beauty of Taiwan (Formosan Black Bear) Glenfarclas Single Malt Scotch Whisky 29 year old 1990 / 2019, private cask #7052 has a “classic and strong sherry note with rich fruit and chocolate aroma”. Glenfarclas said this revives memories of the first year when the Taiwanese Professional Baseball League was formed. The release is a tribute to the professional players in the sport that have inspired fans over the past 29 years, it said.
