Gebr Heinemann to consolidate retail and distribution arms; Executive Director Distribution Peter Irion to leave company

GERMANY. Gebr Heinemann Executive Director Distribution Peter Irion is to leave the company, as a restructure takes effect that will combine retail and distribution arms in one sales division. Of the group’s €4.1 billion in controlled turnover in 2017, retail accounted for €3.2 billion and distribution around €900 million.

Gebr. Heinemann said that it had made the “structural decision to have one sales area in the future, with distribution and retail under a comprehensive management among the Executive Board”. In a statement the company added: “As part of this, it was decided in mutual agreement to end the cooperation with Executive Director Peter Irion with immediate effect.”

Raoul Spanger: New reporting line for distribution department as Heinemann repositions itself for growth.

The company said that the new organisation was finalised after “an intensive analytical process”. The directors of the distribution department will now report directly to Executive Director Raoul Spanger. Details will be finalised and communicated by the end of the year and put in place in stages beyond that.

The Executive board and owners Claus and Gunnar Heinemann thanked Irion for his contribution over eight years and wished him well for the future.
