Furla takes a trip to Venice in Spring/Summer 2018 collection

Furla will showcase its Venice-inspired Spring/Summer 2018 collection at next month’s TFWA World Exhibition (Bay Village, Bay 2).

The first part of the collection focuses on intense colours, ranging from vibrant lagoon-like blue and green tones to more feminine bright pinks that reflect the Venetian terraces. Floral brocades and jacquards are interpreted in bright colours that give a fresh new look to materials created by traditional machines.

The Spring/Summer 2018 collection plays with both solid and hollow designs, inspired by the architecture of Venetian buildings. Geometric forms mix with softer shapes, such as the new scallop shield closure lock featured on the new Ducale line that resembles a noble family emblem.

Ducale bags come with adjustable leather shoulder straps

Described as trendy and contemporary, the Ducale line features saddle bags and satchels offered in grainy calf leather with a semi shiny finish. The leather shoulder straps are adjustable in order to wear the bag both on the shoulder or as a cross-body.

Both the Merletto and Scoop lines feature a scallop design and are inspired by the famous Museo de Merletto (Burano Lace School). Scoop comes with a special closure system, contrasting metallic details and reversible functionality.

The second delivery features a lighter and transparent colour palette, like Murano glass. Its print themes celebrate seasonal summer fruits with pineapple, strawberry and apple designs.

A new addition to the Stacy line is the Casanova bag, available as a Mini, Small or Medium drawstring or a Medium or Large Tote.

Furla’s popular Metropolis line has been renovated with the introduction of new variations and a new small cross-body featuring a leather and chain strap which a pocket to hold a mobile phone. New Metropolis bags feature a variety of prints and fabrics, including Jacquard, Butterfly and Rainbow.

A new style Mini Cross-Body has been added to the Candy line, which first launched in Spring/Summer 2011. Candy bags are made of Gomma Gel processed using patented moulds.

Furla is also putting more emphasis on its men’s collection in travel retail. The SS18 men’s collection follows the same theme and trends as the women’s collection. The best-selling Atlante line sees the addition of new Arazzo, Ippocampo and Grifone prints created exclusively by the Furla design team. A new cross-body zip-top, small size messenger and a new briefcase with collapsible handles join the Marte line.

Revised shapes and functionality have been implemented in the Ulisse leisure line, including new nylon bags in solid and printed versions with animal animations. A new 4-ways bag has been added to the Icaro collection, said to offer practical and multifunctional usage while retaining style.

Furla Global Travel Retail Director Gerry Munday commented: “The Furla SS18 is absolutely fabulous, and just screams ‘summer’ – the design team have worked extremely hard to bring unique and trendy prints to truly make the collection one of a kind. We are thrilled to be showcasing it at TFWA World Exhibition and look forward to a rewarding week with clients, colleagues and friends.”
