FRANCE/INTERNATIONAL. The social programme for this year’s TFWA World Exhibition & Conference in Cannes has been revealed. As reported, the speaker line-up was announced yesterday.
The Opening Cocktail will be held at 19:30 on Sunday 30 September at the Carlton Beach located in front of the Carlton Hotel. As is now tradition, the evening will conclude with a firework display over the bay, courtesy of the City of Cannes.
The Scene at Plage du Palais des Festivals will this year be open between Monday 1 and Thursday 4 October (from 22:00 to 02:00). Heineken has been confirmed as the new platinum sponsor, TFWA (Tax Free World Association) said.
Le Premium Evening at Port Canto will bring the social programme to a close from 20:00 on Thursday. The cast of Broadway show The Illusionists will perform, while chef Romain Gandolphe will also feature.
The annual TFWA Golf Tournament, held in partnership with Qatar Duty Free, will tee off at 08:30 on Sunday 1 October. The event will be held at the Royal Mougins Golf Club, with coaches for registered players departing from the Majestic Hotel at 07:30. Tournament sponsors Dr Irena Eris and American Crew will provide prizes for winners and other incentives.
The traditional Charity Run starts in front of the Carlton Hotel at 08:30 on Sunday. Participants donate €15 to walk, run or jog around the Croisette seafront, with TFWA giving all proceeds to SAMU Social de Cannes, a charity that helps the homeless. Breakfast will be served after the activity.
The Regatta, sponsored by Paul & Shark, takes place on Sunday between 09:00 and 14:00 at the Bay of Cannes. Entrants will be divided into crews with a yacht and a skipper for a morning of competitive racing, followed by an on-board picnic lunch and post-race swim if the weather remains fair. Coaches for the race will depart from the Majestic Hotel at 08:30.
Two open-air yoga sessions will also be held at the Plage du Festival between 09:00 and 11:30 on Sunday. They are sponsored by Rituals.
Returning to its former home at the Place de l’Etang, the Pétanque Tournament will test players’ hand-eye coordination, patience and strategic skills in a friendly but competitive environment, TFWA said. Coaches for the tournament will depart from the Marriott Hotel at 09:15.
“Whether you’re looking to hit the fairways, try your hand at pétanque or simply take the weight off your feet and enjoy the amazing views of Cannes, there really is something for everyone with our line-up of social and leisure events at the TFWA World Exhibition & Conference,” said TFWA President Erik Juul-Mortensen.

The TFWA World Exhibition & Conference will be taking place at the Palais des Festivals, Cannes, between 30 September and 5 October 2018.
