Freixenet unveils a contemporary Ice age

Spanish wine producer Freixenet has introduced a new look for its Ice and Ice Rosé expressions.

The frosted white bottles have a cracked-look finish to resemble ice cubes. Freixenet said the design underlines the cold-drinking nature of the product and defines its ‘ice’ element. Neck labels have also been simplified for a more contemporary look.

Defining the ‘ice’ element: Freixenet introduces its new-look Ice Rosé.

Since launching its Ice range in 2016, Freixenet said it has recruited a new and younger generation of consumers and introduced a new approach to enjoying Spanish sparkling Cava wines. Serving suggestions include in a large wine glass over ice, garnished with mint (Ice Cava) or ripe summer berries (Ice Cava Rosé).

The wines have been rolled out across global travel retail and selected domestic markets in North and South America, Europe and Asia.

Freixenet says the new bottles emphasise the cold-drinking nature of Ice wines.

Freixenet Global Travel Retail Sales Manager Philippe Jamme said: “We’ve had a very good response to Freixenet. However, there are still many opportunities for these innovative two sparkling wines and we’re confident that the new style bottle will encourage new listings in additional key markets.”

The new bottles were presented to buyers at this month’s TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes, along with a new Pinot Noir Rosé Sparkling and a Cordon Negro Gran Vintage, which is exclusive to travel shopping.
