Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic hits new monthly high in July

GERMANY. Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic climbed by +4.4% year-on-year in July to 6.4 million, parent company Fraport has reported. This was a new monthly high for the German hub, beating the figure from August 2015 by 82,000. It also means that traffic at Frankfurt Airport has risen for nine consecutive months. In the period from January to July, traffic rose by +4.5%.

The airports in Fraport’s international portfolio also delivered a strong performance in July. Ljubljana Airport handled 198,138 passengers, a rise of +21.4% year-on-year. Lima Airport posted a +10.2% traffic increase to almost 1.9 million passengers. The Fraport Twin Star airports of Varna and Burgas on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast registered a combined increase of +5.4% to 1.3 million passengers.

Fraport group airports posted solid growth in passenger traffic in July, with Frankfurt hitting a new record high

The 14 Greek regional airports in the group achieved combined traffic growth of +9.7% to 5 million passengers in July. The busiest of these included Rhodes Airport with around 1 million passengers (up +4.1%), Thessaloniki Airport with 759,196 passengers (up +16%) and Kerkyra Airport on the island of Corfu with 619,452 passengers (up +4.1%).

Antalya Airport served 4.2 million people in July, surging by +64.9%. In northern Germany, traffic at Hanover Airport advanced by +14.9% to 660,332 passengers. With 1.9 million passengers, St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport recorded strong traffic growth of +23.6%. At Xi’an Airport, traffic jumped by +11.3% to 3.7 million passengers.
