Frankfurt Airport passenger traffic climbs for tenth consecutive month

GERMANY. Passenger traffic at Frankfurt Airport climbed by +5% year-on-year in August, hitting 6.3 million. It was the tenth consecutive month of traffic growth.

During the eight-month period from January to August 2017, Frankfurt Airport posted accumulated passenger growth of +4.5% compared to the same period last year.

Airports in Fraport’s international portfolio also continued to deliver sold increases. Ljubljana Airport welcomed 196,416 passengers, a healthy gain of +18.9%. Lima Airport posted a +10.5% traffic increase to over 1.9 million passengers in the month. The Fraport Twin Star airports of Varna and Burgas on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast registered a combined increase of +4.4% to 1.3 million passengers.The 14 Greek airports managed by Fraport achieved combined traffic growth of +8.3% to 5.1 million passengers in August. The busiest of these included Rhodes Airport with around 1.0 million passengers (up +2.4%), Thessaloniki Airport with 781,617 passengers (up +14.6%) and Kerkyra Airport on Corfu with 628,681 passengers (up +2.7%).

Antalya Airport served 4.3 million passengers in August, jumping by +56% as Russian traffic rebounded. In northern Germany, traffic at Hanover Airport climbed by +12.4% to 617,320 passengers. With 1.9 million passengers, St. Petersburg Pulkovo Airport recorded healthy traffic growth of +21.2%. Xi’an Airport in China posted growth +10.1% to 3.8 million passengers.
