Four German airports strike innovative advertising partnership

GERMANY. Munich, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf and Hamburg airports have partnered to create Airportconnect, a new advertising service that allows media buyers and brands to purchase DOOH displays flexibly and on a weekly basis. The initiative was launched last month with luggage brand Samsonite among the launch partners from 13 May.

Advertisers can deliver their messages across a total of 28 HD 16:9 screens at all four locations, with the potential to reach more than 2.5 million passengers per week.

“With Airportconnect, we have joined forces with strong partners to launch a groundbreaking concept for the marketing of digital advertising displays at airports throughout Germany,” said Munich Airport Head of Advertising and Media Cornelia Rossmann.

Of the 28 displays, 12 are located at Munich Airport – all of them after the security screening checkpoints in the terminals. Munich Airport said its display locations benefited from “prestigious surroundings, high footfall, long dwell times and a high percentage of business travellers and decision makers”.

Düsseldorf Airport also offers large-format presentation options for advertisers’ messages, both in the terminal and at the gate, in the form of four digital screens – both airside and landside.

At Hamburg Airport, eight screens are positioned before and after security, while Stuttgart Airport features four screens along the walkways in the Terminal 1 arrival and departure zones.

There are 28 advertising locations across the four airports, led by Munich (pictured above and below) with 12.
